(Head Coach and Owner of JoCo CrossFit)
Mike completed his MBA in January 2012 from Indiana Wesleyan University with a specialty in Healthcare Administration. He is a graduate of IUPUI of which he received his B.S. in Exercise Science from Indiana University in May of 2003. While attending IUPUI, Mike played four years of Division-I soccer on an athletic scholarship.
Mike has obtained a number of certifications and continues his education to establish himself as a reliable and committed personal trainer and strength & conditioning coach. His training has ranged from untrained and novice athletes to professional athletes. He has trained a number of obese and unhealthy individuals back to a healthy and desirable lifestyle. Over time, Mike has gained experience training clientele of all skill sets, health, and fitness levels.
In early 2008, Mike discovered CrossFit through a Muscle and Fitness magazine. After being humbled by the first workout, Mike looked a little deeper into the CrossFit methodology and never turned back. Since that time, Mike has trained himself and most of his clientele with the CrossFit training/programming and has experienced unbelievable gains in all fitness domains both personally and from his clients. Mike has never witnessed a training concept that has challenged an individual and helped so many meet their overall fitness goals. Mike is excited to bring CrossFit to Franklin and hopefully involve the entire Johnson County Community with his training. He has led a team to the CrossFit Regionals in 2012 and 2013.
Stacie Volz, PTA, CFL1
Stacie has lived in and been a part of the community of Franklin since age 2. She graduated from Purdue in 1997 with a degree in speech pathology and audiology and from Gwinett Techinical College in 2000 with a physical therapist assistant (PTA) degree. She is 37 years old, a wife, and the mother of two young boys. She works full time as a PTA helping rehabilitate elderly patients with vestibular and balance dysfunction.
Stacie has competed in one triathlon and has run three marathons for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. One month after her third marathon in San Francisco in 2010, she was humbled by the OnRamp class with Mike and Tom. She believed she was already fit, and thought she would “just try CrossFit to get a little toned.” Little did she know how passionate she would become about CrossFit. She quickly went from 3x/week to 6x/week (most weeks) and hasn’t looked back. She loves that the workouts vary every day, are modified to each individual’s needs and abilities, and can be measured to monitor progress.
Stacie is Level 1 and CrossFit Mobility certified. She has competed in local competitions, and has also been part of the JoCo Team at the CrossFit Regionals in 2012 and 2013.
Now in the best shape of her life, Stacie is accomplishing things she never thought she could or never even knew existed! She truly enjoys paying forward her knowledge and experience, and watching people’s lives change as they experience successes they never thought possible.
JD Hart, MBA, CFL1
J.D. completed his MBA in 2013 from Indiana University. He has his B.S. from Indiana University in Business Management as well. J.D works full time for a Fortune 500 company, but loves spending his spare time improving his own fitness goals and helping others do the same.
J.D. was introduced to Crossfit in 2011 upon finishing his last season on a competition softball team. In late October of 2011, he returned from a national tourney in Las Vegas, walked in JoCo Crossfit wanting to prep in the off season. One week later he sold all of his softball equipment and became addicted to “The Sport of Fitness”.
His personal gains over the past 2 years still keep him wanting more. He has participated in many local competitions, including the GLI, the Winter Rendezvous, and the Bracket Buster. He says “the support from box and community are very inspiring” and help keep him motivated. J.D. enjoys coaching and helping every athlete acheive their goals as much as his own. The vast variety of athletes at JoCo opened his eyes, proving that CrossFit is truly for everyone. From regional competitors to the person just finding a way to increase their quality of life, he welcomes all fitness levels to the JoCo Family!

Brandon completed his Master of Science Degree at Northwestern University in Predictive Analytics in June of 2013 and his undergraduate degree in Mathematics at Chicago State University in 2007. Brandon is a Captain of the U.S. Army and enjoys both physical and mental training.
Brandon was introduced to Crossfit in 2008, and facilitated a Crossfit group in Afghanistan until the end of 2009. He has also completed the CrossFit Endurance course as well. Brandon believes that Crossfit is not just about lifting weights. Instead he embraces the totality of what physical fitness can bring to multiple areas of a person’s life. Brandon believes that physical fitness doesn’t just happen by accident, and he loves to see people work for, achieve, and surpass goals that they thought they could never reach. His love of the gym is fueled by seeing the commitment that grows in people that are willing to persevere to become better at life and lifting. Brandon notes: “I love the family atmosphere here. At other places people join a gym…here you join a family!”
Andrea Warner, CFL1, CFK Coordinator
Andrea has lived in Indiana and taken part in sports and athletics since age 4. She played softball, volleyball, and basketball for the Center Grove schools. As a young adult she competed and won two State Golden Gloves Titles and a Junior Olympics in Amateur Boxing. She was introduced to CrossFit in 2011 and instantly fell in love. The community, the sport of fitness, the constantly varied workouts, and the simple fact that anyone can do it, was enough to want her dive head first. She has completed the CFL1 and the CrossFit Kids (CFK) courses. Andrea runs three different age groups of the CFK classes at JoCo CrossFit, three nights a week.
Andrea is currently working on her degree in Criminal Justice from IUPUI. She is a preschool teacher and aide at Christ United Methodist Church. She has two children of her own. She feels that CrossFit should be introduced at a young age, because it not only improves athleticism but also provides self-awareness and self-esteem that all kids should have.
